Who I am
Restore My Photos is a UK digital photo restoration business run by me as a sole trader. I restore, repair, enhance and deliver photographs digitally for clients across the United Kingdom.
For privacy questions or data requests, email hello@restoremyphotos.co.uk.
Information I collect
- Name, email address and any contact details you choose to provide.
- Enquiry details, including the service requested, deadlines and notes about the photograph.
- Uploaded or emailed photographs supplied for a quote or restoration work.
- Payment, order and invoice details where a restoration is purchased.
- Basic technical information, such as browser type, device information and IP address, where collected by website tools.
Why I use information
- To respond to enquiries and prepare clear, no-obligation quotes.
- To assess image damage and carry out the requested restoration work.
- To send proofs, completed files, invoices and service updates.
- To keep the website secure, reliable and easy to use.
- To meet UK tax, accounting and legal obligations.
Legal basis for processing
Under UK GDPR, personal information is handled only where there is a lawful reason to do so. Most processing is necessary to respond before entering into a contract, provide the requested restoration service, meet legal obligations, or support legitimate business interests such as secure record keeping and website maintenance.
Where consent is needed, for example to display a restored photograph publicly, I will ask for permission first. Consent can be withdrawn at any time.
Uploaded Original Photographs
Original photographs sent for a quote or restoration may include personal data, including images of family members, homes, events or sensitive memories.
I handle uploaded photographs confidentially and use them only to assess the work requested, provide a quote, complete the restoration, or respond to your enquiry.
Photographs are never publicly shared, used in marketing or added to a portfolio without clear permission.
Restored Final Images
Completed restored images are created from the files supplied by the client. They are treated with the same care and confidentiality as the original uploads.
Restored final images remain available for download for 60 days free of charge after delivery. After that period, additional re-download requests may incur a £5 recovery and re-delivery fee if the files are still available.
Clients are responsible for downloading, storing and backing up delivered files once received.
Unpaid Quote Requests
If you send photographs for a quotation but do not proceed with an order, the uploaded files and related enquiry details may be deleted after 30 days.
This helps keep personal information and family photographs for no longer than reasonably necessary.
Completed Orders and Accounting Records
For completed orders, I may retain essential order details, invoices, payment records and correspondence needed for customer service, accounting and legal compliance.
Financial and accounting records may be retained for up to 6 years to meet UK tax and business record requirements.
Secure File Delivery
Files are usually sent and received using email, secure transfer links or reputable file delivery services. I take reasonable steps to keep file handling secure and to limit access to the information needed to complete the work.
Please avoid sending passwords, financial details or unrelated sensitive information with your photographs.
Cookies and Analytics
The website may use cookies and privacy-conscious analytics tools to understand how visitors use the site, check performance and improve reliability.
Analytics information is generally aggregated and does not need to identify you directly. More detail is available in the Cookie Policy.
Third-Party Services
Restore My Photos may use trusted third-party services to operate the business, such as email providers, file transfer services, payment processors, website hosting, analytics tools and accounting software.
Only the information needed for the relevant purpose is shared. I do not sell personal information, mailing lists or client photographs.
Confidentiality and care
Many photographs sent for restoration are deeply personal. Sensitive family memories are handled with care, discretion and respect throughout the quote, restoration and delivery process.
Images are not published, displayed in a portfolio, posted on social media or used in before-and-after examples unless you have given permission.
Data retention

- Completed restored images remain available for download for 60 days free of charge.
- Additional re-download requests after 60 days may incur a £5 recovery and re-delivery fee.
- Financial and accounting records may be retained for up to 6 years for UK legal compliance.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the use of your personal information. You may also ask for a copy of information held about you.
Some information may need to be retained where there is a legal requirement, such as accounting records for completed orders.
